The Cooper City Parks and Recreation Department is in the final stages of developing a comprehensive Parks and Recreation Master Plan. This plan is a key initiative aimed at enhancing the recreational services we offer to the community and ensuring our parks, facilities, and programs meet the evolving needs of residents.
What is a Parks & Recreation Master Plan?
The Parks and Recreation Master Plan will be a strategic document that helps us identify the current and future needs of our parks, trails, facilities, programs, and recreational services. Our goal is to:
- Evaluate and improve existing parks and facilities.
- Identify opportunities for new recreational spaces and programs.
- Gather input from residents and stakeholders to ensure we’re serving the community’s needs.
This Master Plan will be our guiding document as we work to enhance the quality of life for all Cooper City residents through improved recreational offerings.
What Has Occurred?
A public workshop was held on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at the Community Center.
At this Public Workshop, residents and stakeholders had the opportunity to:
- Learn more about the Master Plan process.
- Share ideas and feedback on how the City can improve our parks, facilities, and programs.
- Be an active participant in shaping the future of our community’s recreational services.
On Tuesday, May 27, 2025, the City Commission gathered for a workshop and was presented with a drafted master plan to review and provide comments.
What’s Next?
During the City Commission Workshop on May 27, the City's consultant received feedback and comments to help finalize a plan that can be presented for final input from residents. The feedback gathered during previous public outreach efforts, including the workshop, have been used to develop recommendations for:
- Enhancing existing facilities to better serve the community.
- Improving parks and trails that align with public needs.
- Expanding and enhancing our recreational offerings to better serve all all ages and interests.
Our ultimate goal is to provide improved recreational services that reflect the desires of our residents and contribute to a vibrant, healthy community.
