Utility Rates
The City of Cooper City provides water and sewer utilities to its residents. For general information and up-to-date rate and billing information, call (954) 434-4300 and press option #1.
Cooper City has adopted tiered water rates to promote conservation.
The rates apply to the water portion of residential accounts and were developed to encourage customers to conserve the water they use, especially for landscape irrigation.
Customers who use less water will be rewarded with lower rates. Alternatively, the more water a customer uses, the higher the tier and charges for water use.
Water & Sewer Base Charge
- All accounts, whether active or inactive, are subject to a minimum water & sewer charge. This minimum or “base” charge is applied prior to any consumption of water.
- Effective October 1, 2024, the base charge for single family residences for water is $15.98; for sewer it's $34.57.
- Sanitation and Recycling are not included in this charge.
Tiered water rates in effect as of October 1, 2024:
Tiered rates were specifically designed to not negatively impact residents who consume water for normal domestic, indoor-type uses (even large families). Please note, residential customers' sewer rate of $3.95 per thousand gallons is capped at 10,000 gallons per billing period.
Monthly Usage Rate Blocks (Gallons) |
Water Usage Tiered Rate (Per Thousand Gallons) |

Block 1 (0 – 5,000) | $3.97 | $3.95 |
Block 2 (5,001 – 10,000) | $4.58 | $3.95 |
Block 3 (10,001 – 20,000) | $5.80 | Capped at 10,000 gallons per billing period |

In order to keep your water bill to a minimum, we recommend that everyone in your household practice water conservation. The meantime, the following are some tips to reduce irrigation water demand:
- Monitor your sprinkler system to ensure all sprinkler heads are working properly and that you’re not over-watering your lawn.
- Use mulch in your landscape beds to maintain moisture and prevent evaporation loss.
- Plant drought-tolerant and native plants. Many of these are heat and cold tolerant, beautiful, and require much less water than turf grass.
- Install and utilize rain sensors.
