City Statement on Removal of District Fire Chief
During the City Commission Regular Meeting on January 11, 2022, residents were made aware of a change in leadership at the Broward Sheriff's Office - Department of Fire Rescue and Emergency Services - Cooper City District 28.
At the request of the City of Cooper City, the Broward Sheriff’s Office made a change in personnel at the District Fire Chief level. The City has asked the Broward Sheriff’s Office to provide a list of suitable candidates to fill this key position as soon as possible.
The City’s decision to request the removal of the current District Fire Chief was due to a loss of confidence in the District Fire Chief’s ability to carry out the City’s operational needs. The Broward Sheriff’s Office has informed the City that Assistant Fire Chief Benjamin Rudbeck will be the City’s point of contact during the vacancy of the position.
