BSO Cooper City District Set to Launch Operation Front Porch

The Broward Sheriff's Officer Cooper City District will look to serve residents this holiday season through the "Operation Front Porch" initiative. Operation Front Porch was created in Cooper City in 2020 to help prevent “porch pirates,” who target your holiday packages while you’re not home. Instead of taking these reports and investigating the crime afterwards, our BSO Cooper City District team decided to offer the local police station as a safe delivery location for your holiday packages. It’s a simple and free service for Cooper City residents, which is being offered from November 20, 2021 thru December 24, 2021:

  •   Register for the program at the district station (10580 Stirling Rd.)
  •   Ship packages to: (Your Name) C/O Broward Sheriff’s Office, Cooper City District
  •   At your convenience, stop by the police station, show your government-issued ID that matches the package recipient with proof of purchase, and we will provide you with your packages (NOTE: The lobby is open 24/7, which makes picking up your packages convenient).

For those who prefer traditional shopping over online purchasing, here are a few safety tips that will help prevent you from being victimized:

  •   When shopping, remember to never leave any bags or merchandise visible in your vehicle. Preferably, store your items in the trunk where coveting eyes won’t see them.
  •   Always remember to lock your vehicle doors and watch for suspicious persons in the parking lots. See something; say something!
  •   If you happen to make any larger purchases – especially of an electronic nature – take time to break down the boxes and don’t leave them out by the trash where curious eyes may see “what” you just placed in your home.
