A Christmas Message from the City Commission

The Christmas season brings an opportunity to come together and share in the spirit of love, hope, and joy. This special time of year inspires us to be selfless, putting others before ourselves and taking stock of what is most important in our lives.

The holidays also call on all of us to become better versions of ourselves by helping to bring happiness to others. With great gratitude, we see acts of kindness throughout the year. We have had a front row seat to see the passion, care, and generosity of our community. Thank you to all residents who have made this a wonderful year across “Someplace Special.”

With 2022 drawing to a close, this is also a great time to reflect and celebrate our City’s achievements.

It has been a busy twelve months in Cooper City with a range of major projects and events taking place. The City Commission has made significant investments in our city’s future, specifically in public safety. In conjunction with the BSO Cooper City District, a Real-Time Crime Center is taking shape and will be bolstered by equipment strategically placed around the city. Furthermore, a new fire engine, ladder truck, and fire rescue truck have been purchased, all specifically suited to serve the needs of Cooper City.

Parks and facilities are also receiving upgrades and we will continue moving forward with improvements in the coming year. Over the past year, new playground equipment was purchased for certain parks, a drainage improvement project at Bill Lips Sports Complex was approved, and pickleball courts at Suellen H. Fardelmann Sports Complex were resurfaced. We also got to work at the Pool and Tennis Center by refurbishing the gym and reinvigorating the pool.

These are just some of the wonderful things that have occurred over the past year. While celebrating this year’s successes, we are excited about the work to come in 2023. We invite you to be a part of the process by getting involved and sharing your thoughts and opinions at City Commission meetings.

From our homes to yours, we wish you and your loved ones a Merry Christmas and a safe, healthy, and prosperous New Year!
