Tips to Prepare for Wet Weather With Flood Insurance
Most homeowners and renters insurance do not cover flood damage. That's why Cooper City residents are encouraged to purchase flood insurance. You can purchase flood insurance for both residential and commercial coverage, in order to cover the building and/or the contents of the building.
Usually, there is a 30-day waiting period before a flood insurance policy takes effect. One inch of water in your building can cause thousands of dollars in damage to floor coverings, electronics, walls, appliances, inventory, etc. You can find more information on the FloodSmart.gov.
Clean water begins in our own yards where the flow of rainwater begins its journey to the coastal waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Your neighborhood drainage system is not a garbage disposal – don’t treat it like one. The storm drain is just for rain!
If you see someone placing grass clippings, oil, paint, animal waste, litter or anything into the City’s storm drains, or any water body, please report the illegal dumping to Code Compliance at 954-436-7335.
