Monitoring Subtropical Storm Nicole: Public Advisory #1

The City of Cooper City is closely monitoring Subtropical Storm Nicole and taking preliminary measures.
 
At 11 a.m. on Monday, November 7, 2022, a Hurricane Watch was issued for for Broward County, which means that hurricane conditions are possible within the next 48 hours.
 
Nicole is forecast to be a Category 1 Hurricane when it approaches Florida's east coast. There is the potential for periods of heavy rain and damaging winds this Wednesday and Thursday. Take this time to gather storm supplies while also securing outdoor items or bringing them inside.

City Hall/Community Center/Pool and Tennis Center:
  • All City offices are operating on a normal schedule.
 
Events:
  • Veterans Day Ceremony remains scheduled for Friday, November 11, at 11 AM.
  • Parks and Recreation's 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament has been postponed until November 15 and 16.
 
City Parks:
  • All City sports complexes and parks are operating on a normal schedule.
 
Waste Collection:
  • Waste Management is collecting all trash and recycling on a normal schedule.
 
Sand Bags:
  • Due to the potential for heavy rainfall, the City will have sand bags available on Tuesday, November 8. Please see the following details:

  • There is a limit of seven (7) bags per household.
  • Proof of Cooper City residency is required, with a valid government-issued ID.
  • Residents must be physically present to fill sand bags.
  • Please be prepared to pack your own sand bags.
