Cooper City Calls on Residents to Have Their Say on Whether Leashed Dogs Should Be Allowed in City Parks
The City Commission has discussed a potential change to the City Code to allow leashed dogs in certain neighborhood parks in Cooper City.
Under the current City Code, no animals or pets of any kind, except service animals, are permitted in City parks, unless they are in a fence area that has been designated as an "Off-Leash Dog Park" (City Ordinance 13-11-1).
The City is conducting a survey to gauge residents' openness to allowing leashed dogs in more parks. We understand not all parks, or areas within City parks such as playgrounds, would be suitable for leashed dogs.
