Cooper City Cyclones Competed at the FGC Age Group Championships
As we were all busy with Founder’s Day celebrations, the FGC Age Group Championships (formerly Junior Olympics) took place on March 10th - 12th in Coral Springs. The Cooper City Cyclones team was represented by: Constantine Lazarou, Guy Soto, and Ziggy Sweizer in the 10 and under category. Luca Pichardo, Gabriel Soto, and Jacob Woodrum represented the 11-12 category.
- Ziggy Sweizer qualified for the first time this year, swimming in the 50 breaststroke event.
- Constantine Lazarou, also a first time qualifier, swam seven events, placed 4th in the finals in 100 IM, and qualified for the Florida All Stars meet. He was 22nd place overall in the 10 and under category.
- Guy Soto swam seven events, making finals in five of them, two of which he was a top three finisher. He earned 8th place overall in the 10 and under category, and also qualified for the Florida All Stars meet.
- Luca Pichardo qualified for the first time and swam two events, the 50 breast and 50 backstroke.
- Gabriel Soto swam five events, making finals in two of them. He ended the meet with a best time in the 100 yard free, dropping 1.55 seconds in the finals to finish with an impressive 58.78.
- Jacob Woodrum was also a first time qualifier at this meet and swam in the 50 breaststroke event, in which he made it to finals, achieving a best time of 36.67.
