Community Pool Reopens Following Resurfacing Project

The Community Pool at the Pool and Tennis Center, located within the Rock Creek community at 11600 Stonebridge Parkway, has reopened following a resurfacing project that brings the pool up to the standards of the Florida Building Code and Florida Department of Health.

The Community Pool closed in March 2022, ahead of the project's commencement. The City strived to reopen the pool during the summer, but the project faced unforeseen delays due to a change order and supply shortages. The change order was approved by the City Commission during the April 12, 2022 Regular Meeting. The contractor agreed to complete the pool resurfacing within 70 calendar days, following the change order. Within the contract, the City had the right to fine the contractor $250 for each day beyond the agreed completion date.

"We understand residents' frustrations with respect to the pool resurfacing project," said City Manager Joseph Napoli. "The schedule did not go as planned, but resident can take comfort in knowing that our Public Works Department had all eyes on this initiative. We made sure that each step of the project was carried out correctly, with the safety and best interests of our residents in mind."

The resurfacing project was funded by dollars received in the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) of 2021. The federal funds can be utilized for a variety of initiatives, which include projects that work to improve health and safety as a result of the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

If you plan on visiting the community pool, it is open Monday-Friday from 10 AM to 4 PM, and on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 AM to 5 PM.
