Cooper City Honors Beloved School Principal with Street Naming Dedication
The City of Cooper City partnered with Embassy Creek Elementary School, located at 10905 SE Lake Boulevard in Cooper City, to honor the late Principal Robert Becker by co-designating SE Lake Boulevard as Robert Becker Boulevard.
Embassy Creek Elementary School Interim Principal Jodi Hoover led the ceremony by welcoming school staff and families, members of the Broward Sheriff’s Office Cooper City District, and members of the Cooper City Commission. Ms. Hoover’s welcome was followed by Cooper City Mayor Greg Ross’ remarks paying tribute to the life and legacy of Robert Becker.
Following Mayor Ross’ remarks, members of the Cooper City Commission were joined by Dina Becker and Brian Becker, Mr. Becker’s wife and son, to unveil the newly named Robert Becker Boulevard.
On February 13, 2024, the Cooper City Commission voted unanimously to forgo a 90-day waiting period and adopted a resolution that co-designates SE Lake Boulevard as Robert Becker Boulevard, following the death of Embassy Creek Elementary School Principal Robert Becker. Robert Becker dedicated his career to educating and inspiring students, colleagues, and peers. Cooper City is forever grateful to Mr. Becker for the impact he made on the lives of countless Cooper City children and their families while spending a major portion of his career at Embassy Creek Elementary School. It is through his care for others and his passion for inspiring those he met that we know his legacy will live on.
Principal Becker passed away on January 27, 2024, following a battle with cancer. His passing has deeply affected Embassy Creek, the surrounding community, and Cooper City as a whole. During his time at Embassy Creek, he inspired and led thousands of students and staff, and his impact on all the lives he touched is immeasurable.
