Utilities is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and improvement of the City's water, sewer, and storm drain systems. The division also houses the Office of the City Engineer.
Operation and maintenance of the water system includes all water piping, up to and including the water meter. The water lines from the meter to the house are the homeowners' responsibility. Similarly, Utilities operates and maintains the sanitary sewer system piping within the public rights-of-way and within dedicated easements. Sanitary sewer piping and drains on private property are the responsibility of the property owner.
Utilities also maintains the storm water inlets and drain lines on all local public streets. Inlets and drain lines on private streets are maintained by the respective homeowner association. Standing water in low areas, dissipating within 24 hours after a rain event, is considered within acceptable limits.
Utilities is also responsible for the maintenance of City buildings, including City Hall, the Community Center, the Pool and Tennis Center, buildings and structures located at our three sports complexes, and the City's two RV storage lots. Our experienced and dedicated team oversees maintenance of City roadways, vehicles, sidewalks, and swale trees.
